Thermal insulation

Thermal insulation (energy saving)

Thermal insulation of windows is extremely important, because a large proportion of your home's heat energy is lost as a result of old and damaged windows. Basic parameters that determine good window insulation are window profiles (frame and casement) and thermal insulation of the glass. The thermal insulation of a window is indicated by its U-value. The lower the U-value, the less of heat is lost through the window, indicating better thermal insulation. Installation of low-energy windows ensures significant energy saving.

Soundproofing

Soundproofing

The latest research indicates that almost 70% of the urban population complains about noise pollution. Soundproofing is measured in decibels (dB). The higher the value, the better the soundproofing of your window. Soundproofing of a building thus depends on the soundproofing of windows. Taking into account that noise levels in urban environments usually exceeds 65 dB, window soundproofing should fall between 35 and 40 dB. For window soundproofing, glass thickness plays the central role. Insulated glass of type 4/16/4 Ug = 1.1 W/m2k, that is usually built into builders' joinery, has a soundproofing value of 32 dB. This means that the window reduces extraneous noise levels from 70 dB down to 38 dB. For example, having closed windows with this type of glass will greatly reduce if not eliminate outside road noises. If you need additional soundproofing, AluBoMa will do its best to accommodate you.

What does the glass's U-value indicate?
U is the international symbol for thermal transmittance of air through material. The lower the U-value, the lower the transmittance. By new European standards, the U-value has replaced the use of the measurement k. There are two types of transmittance: transmittance through glass (U-value of glass (Ug)) and transmittance through the entire window (U-value of window (Uw)). Most windows have 4-16-4 low-e glass built in with a Ug = 1.1. AluBoMa offers triple glazed windows with much greater insulation values (4-12-4 low-e Ug = 0.7).

What does W/m2K stand for?
W/m2K is a unit of measurement used to calculate the U-value. It expresses the amount of heat energy, under standardized conditions, that is lost over an area of 1m2.

What does Rw stand for?
Rw is the international measurement for soundproofing, measured in decibels. The higher the value the better the soundproofing. Our standard glazing of 4-16-4 low-e Ug=1.1 reaches 32dB.

What is low-e?
Low-e refers to glass covered with a special low emissivity coating. For the building industry, using low-e glass is among the most important insulation factors.

What is LAMINATED GLASS?
Laminated glass usually consists of two layers of glass with a layer of safety film, called the interlayer, in between them hindering breakage and break-ins. AluBoMa provides laminated glass of greater thicknesses (6-laminated glass consists of 2x3mm, 8-laminated glass of 2x4mm etc.). Use of laminated glass in builders' joinery ensures

  • 1. safety - due to its safety interlayer this glass is hard to break
    2.better soundproofing (glass with makeup 3+3 - 14- 4lowe means Rw=34 dB).

  • What is TEMPERED GLASS?
Tempered glass is heat strengthened safety glass. The glass is first heated to a specific high temperature and then rapidly cooled. The use of tempered glass in builders' joinery ensures safety, because in the case of the glass breaking, it will break into small pieces with blunt edges.

    Safety

    Safety

AluBoMa windows feature a multi-locking system and burglar-proof window handles. For added safety, AluBoMa can provide you with burglar-proof hardware up to the WK2 level, meaning profiles with middle-seals and safety or laminated glass. It is difficult to ensure complete protection, but potential burglars will think twice when encountering a properly protected facility.

    Realization

    Realization

Production technology, profile processing, bonding methods, finish, and functionality are all factors you should consider when buying new windows. Windows from AluBoMa are produced using the most advanced CNC machines. Before delivery and installation, each window is given a thorough final inspection.

    Flexibility

    Flexibility

Windows and doors greatly influence the architectural look and design of each individual building. Builders' joinery will reflect individuality, creativity, and lifestyle. Besides the quality of insulation, modern, contemporary window design has to address flexibility in terms of colour and shape, maintenance, security, and ventilation.

    Installation

    Installation

Quality window installation is as important as production. It ensures flawless functionality and long-lasting performance. Improper, unprofessional installation can break parameters that affect its functionality and insulation. It is therefore extremely important that installation is carried out by professional and qualified personnel.

    Guarantee

    Guarantee

When purchasing new windows, be sure the retailer has all necessary certification and issues a guarantee of its product.

AluBoMa's windows guarantee sustainability, quality, and above all energy efficiency. Our windows meet all recent standards for energy efficiency. We can prepare all documents needed to gain favourable credit terms or subsidies.

    Handling

    Handling

Top quality hardware from internationally recognized trademarks has been built into all of our windows. uPVC products are equipped with MACO hardware and aluminium products with Giesse, both types including mechanisms for tilt-and-turn opening. The handle must always be in one of the following positions:

    1. Vertically - turned down (window is closed)
    2. Horizontally - (wide open)
    3. Vertically - turned up (tilt opening)

Each window has an integral safeguard mechanism to prevent improper use. Until the casement is opened, the handle is blocked. Rotation of the handle, for example in choosing the opening style, is possible only when the casement is pressed toward the frame.

    Cleaning of profiles

    Cleaning of profiles

Minor stains and smudges can be removed from frames with warm water and non-abrasive detergents. Hard to remove stains can be eliminated using special detergents available from AluBoMa. Do not use detergents containing strong acids or solvents!

Clean dust and dirt from profiles, hardware, and profile edge seals regularly. In case of one of the glass seals coming out of its bed, press it hard with your thumb or with a blunt device to push it back to its place. Do not use sharp tools in preventing seal damage.

Periodically check spaces (holes) for water drainage and clean them when necessary.

    Hardware maintenance

    Hardware maintenance

Once a year, it is advisable to lubricate all moving parts with WD-40 or other oil. Check all screws holding hardware and handles. Let our experts repair hardware that may need adjustment.

    Cleaning of glass

    Cleaning of glass

Glass should be cleaned with a good cloth and either clean water or alcohol. If very dirty, add a drop of dish-washing liquid to the water. Do not use aggressive glass cleaners or those containing solvents.

    Ventilation

    Ventilation

As a result of the airtight characteristic of modern windows, movement of air is decreased and can result in mould growth and condensation on glassy surfaces. Adequate ventilation is key to solving this problem. Large amounts of fresh air should circulate throughout a building and absorb the humidity.

Humidity inside a building should range between 30% and 50%.

Good ventilation is the key to avoiding high levels of humidity. To create adequate ventilation, all windows should be opened for a brief period of time. Five minutes is usually enough, however ventilation time also depends on air temperature. In the morning all rooms, especially the bathrooms and bedrooms, should be ventilated a little longer. Excessive ventilation is unnecessary as it cools the walls and is therefore uneconomical.

Ventilate rooms three to four times a day depending on the number of people and the staleness of the air. On cold days, the ventilation period will be decided by each individual. When a window is opened, the glass will mist over. Close the window when condensation disappears and the glass dries. Fresh air has then displaced the stale air without cooling walls and furniture.

To easily control the humidity level of a room, AluBoMa provides automatic room ventilation using a Gecco system or sensors that signal when air humidity has increased and it is time to ventilate.

    Set for cleaning builders' joinery

    Set for cleaning builders' joinery

AluBoMa offers quality cleaning supplies for complete window care. Ordinary detergents do not provide the desired cleaning power nor do they ensure the needed care for your window. Using our quality detergent (product no. 3525 99) you will be able to both remove mild stains from uPVC windows and apply a protective coating with each use.

After each cleaning, it is recommended to wipe the surface with damp cloth. Treatment with a cleaning and care detergent is suggested twice a year.

For large stains, we have a specialized detergent available (product no. 3527 99). The specialized detergent cleans window profiles and at the same time protects the surfaces, particularly against problems resulting from seal abrasion, environmental pollution, and sticky pollen. After using this specialized detergent, it is advisable to polish the surface with a clean, dry cloth.

    GECCO - automatic ventilation

    GECCO - automatic ventilation

How to maintain a balanced humidity and room temperature?

AluBoMa supplies GECCO self-regulating ventilation systems. By installing a GECCO ventilator to your window, you will have air being automatically exchanged through a closed window without draughts and without sudden drops in temperature. Little flaps transform your window into an automatic ventilation system that will prevent mould growth.
